This catering business all started with a dream to own my own restaurant, a 4-star restaurant is all I would talk about since I was around eight years old. I didn’t even know what “4 star” meant. All I knew is it meant something amazing and unique. I always strived to be unique. Instead of playing with baby doll hair like my cousins used to do, I was in the kitchen with my grandmother, mother, auntie and step mother, watching their cooking techniques, helping and asking plenty of questions. When I was in the kitchen, I had a such passion for learning how to create perfect dishes that people would love, my heart beat felt a thousand per minute, and my excitement for cooking kept growing.

Before I knew it, the same people who taught me were now asking me to cook for them. Now how about that twist when they were the ones who taught me? So yes, I tooted my own horn. I had a plan that by 25 years old, I would have my own 4 star restaurant. Well, as we all know, life tends to throw us a curve ball and I was married by age 26. Now I suddenly had a whole different set of responsibilities, which were my children, so I had to rethink my business plan.

After careful thought, the light bulb went off and I told myself that I would start my own catering business. Then I could juggle the mommy vs. business lifestyle with ease, and without having the tough responsibility of running a 4 star restaurant.

When coming up with a name for the business, all I could think about was how I always prepared my meals with passion and heartfelt intention. I knew the name had to have “heart” in it to let people know that each meal would be prepared with love, and my heart would be in it from start to finish. That is the moment when Catering from the Heart by Keasha was created. As I told you in the beginning, I always strive to be unique, so I eventually changed the name to ‘K’atering from the Heart.
